HackFest '25 Rules & Regulations

Eligibility Criteria

  • Participants must be students of the Science Faculty of the University of Kelaniya.
  • Only students from Year 2 and above are eligible to participate.
  • Each team must consist of 3-5 members.
  • Each team must have a designated team leader.
  • Participants cannot represent multiple teams.
  • Current employees of CodeTerriers are not permitted to join or assist participating teams.
  • Participants cannot receive assistance from anyone outside their team, including faculty, friends, or external experts.
  • All team members must follow CodeTerriers on LinkedIn to be eligible to win.

Hackathon Structure & Timeline

  • Teams must submit a proposal outlining their project idea before the deadline.
  • Delayed proposal submissions will be rejected.
  • Only shortlisted teams from the proposals will be eligible to build their solution and qualify for the final event day.
  • Each qualified team will be allocated a mentor.
  • Mentors can only provide guidance, not solutions.
  • Teams must connect with their respective mentors at least once a week.

Project Development Rules

  • Teams must use Salesforce technologies to build the solution, marks will not be granted for usage of other technologies.
  • Integration with third-party APIs are allowed.
  • Open-source libraries and tools may be used with proper attribution.
  • The application must adhere to the specifications outlined in the proposal.
  • Any form of cheating or plagiarism (including copying code from external sources without modification) will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Teams must build their projects from scratch during the hackathon period.
  • AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Einstein AI) may be used but must be disclosed in the final submission.

Judging & Evaluation

  • Qualified teams will present their solution to the judge panel in the event day. 
  • Not showing up on time will result in disqualification.
  • Creativity & Innovation – Uniqueness of the idea.
  • Effective Use of Salesforce – How well the team utilised Salesforce tools.
  • Functionality & User Experience – How well the solution works and its usability.
  • Presentation & Pitching – Clarity and delivery of the final presentation.
  • The judges' decision is final and cannot be contested. 
  • Any attempt to unfairly influence the judges will lead to immediate disqualification.

Code of Conduct & Disqualification

  • All participants must respect mentors, judges, and fellow competitors.
  • Any harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior will result in removal from the event.
  • Violating any eligibility, submission, or conduct rules.
  • Receiving unauthorised assistance from non-team members.
  • Failing to meet mentorship requirements (e.g., not connecting with mentors weekly).
